Job description

About us

At MWS, we are on a mission to become the home of game-worn culture. We do this by connecting global fanbases to the ultimate fan item: match-worn and signed shirts from the world's biggest athletes and brands around the world. We accelerate engagement, interaction and revenue by enabling our customers to access pieces of sporting history, while raising funds for the causes that matter most to our partners. And the best part? We do it all live from the kick-off. With more than 400 partners globally, we are the outright market leaders in our industry. We see ourselves as innovators, constantly looking for new ways to surprise and delight our audience.

About the role

As our Copywriting Intern, you will support the creation of high-quality, engaging and on-brand copy across MatchWornShirt's marketing channels! You'll get hands-on experience crafting content connected directly to professional clubs, elite athletes and iconic sporting moments.

You will work closely with our Senior Copywriter to continuously develop your writing, SEO and digital marketing skills through real-world projects. From web copy and CRM campaigns to creating weekly stories around the best shirts in the world, your work will directly shape how fans engage with live sporting history!

What you'll do

  • Web & SEO Optimisation: Work alongside the Senior Copywriter to audit high-traffic pages on the MWS website, optimizing web copy for SEO, tone of voice and storytelling.

  • CRM & Email Campaigns: Collaborate with the CRM team to plan and write weekly email campaigns tied to live auctions and major sporting events, engaging our global fanbase.

  • AI Innovation: Own specific CRM projects and help develop our AI copywriting tool by iterating on prompts to increase campaign scale and accuracy.

  • Blog & Storytelling: Create weekly blog posts crafting engaging stories around our most interesting match-worn shirts to drive direct web traffic.

  • Brand Guidelines: Help build "bullet-proof" copy guidelines for the website to ensure consistency in brand voice and SEO best practices.

  • Cross-Department Support: Respond to copy requests across the business, adapting messaging and tone for different channels and audiences.

What you bring

  • Education: Currently studying towards a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or another relevant field.

  • Availability: Ready for a full-time, 6-month internship starting right away, or in February

  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in copywriting (internship/side job or personal project), marketing or content creation (sports industry experience is a plus!).

  • Writing & SEO Skills: Strong written communication with an eye for clarity, detail and tone, alongside a strong interest in SEO, e-commerce and digital marketing.

  • Mindset: Highly organized, reliable, proactive and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

  • Sports Passion: Genuine enthusiasm for football, sports culture and working with content linked to world-class teams and live moments.

  • Legal: EU passport holder or currently enrolled at a university in the Netherlands.

What We Offer

  • Informal and Sporty Environment: Work alongside a passionate, young, international team that lives and breathes sports culture.

  • Real Ownership and Impact: We don't do coffee runs—you'll get your own projects, real responsibility, constructive copy reviews and a published portfolio of real work by the end of your internship.

  • Monthly Remuneration: An internship allowance of €500 per month.

  • Commute Support: Travel coverage of up to €200 per month to help get you to the office (depending on your location).

  • Paid Time Off: 5 paid days off during your 6-month internship to recharge.

  • On-Site Gym: Full access to our in-office gym with a personal trainer, free to use whenever you like!

  • Hospitality Seats: Catch an epic match live from one of our business seats at partner clubs around the globe.

  • Company Events: Awesome formal and informal team events, office drinks and social catch-ups throughout the year.

  • Location: Full-time based in our vibrant Amsterdam office.
